Growing up near the ocean, folk songwriter Davina is constantly drawing inspiration from the sea, transpiring them into music to tell her stories. Described as a female Jack Johnson, she is passionate about conserving the beauty and health of the ocean and planet.
Filled with catchy hooks and lyrics, Davina’s music is original and interesting. Seamlessly blending her beloved folk with soul surfing roots, and being influenced by early blues artists gives her music a depth and feeling not many artists acquire. Her raw, yet at times, ethereal vocals transport you to another world filled with curiosity and intrigue.
Davina is currently working on producing her debut EP and combining her passion for creating imagery to tell her stories. One such story, ‘Hero’, is a song she wrote for her father at his request. His condition after a major stroke has kept him bedridden, restricting him from being on the land and doing what he loves. Davina hopes that he can vicariously experience being in his element once more through the film clip she is creating for ‘Hero’, before he transitions from this life.
As well as being a singer/songwriter and budding film producer, Davina is also an actor. She has enjoyed creating characters for local, national and international film productions this past year and looks forward to telling her stories and playing the roles she wishes to bring to life.
Davina loves being an independent artist, expressing her creativity with not only her music, but imagery and directing her story lines. Being a full time mother to her beautiful daughter, she enjoys the challenge of creating a full life following her passions whilst inspiring her daughter to follow hers and inspiring other dreamers to live their love.
